Record Heat on New Years Day

It was a record start to 2020 in the Wenatchee Valley according to the National Weather Service which saw highs reach 51 degrees.

Meteorologist Rocco Pelatti says the old record was 50 degrees in 1997.

"There was mixing of a lot of wind with the jetstream over us, or pretty darn close. When you mix stuff it tends to warm, so the winds mixed the atmosphere and allowed it to warm up."

The average temperature for New Years Day is in the low 30s.
