Wenatchee Police Department responded to a reported domestic violence incident in the 1600 block of Ridgeview Lane Tuesday night at 10:40 and the suspect was taken into custody shortly before 6 Wednesday morning. Daniel A. Lopez, 34, was reportedly behaving erratically, possibly high on drugs, and officers learned Lopez had threatened to cut his mother and son's throats.

"When officers initially responded, they tried to make contact and he was not compliant," said Captain Edgar Reinfeld. "After initial attempts at contact where the male came outside and immediately went back in, they prepared a search warrant to go recover him based on the seriousness of the domestic violence crime."

Officers from East Wenatchee Police, Chelan County Sheriff and Washington State Patrol also responded in an attempt to make contact with Lopez. A risk assessment was conducted during the preparation of the warrant and realized this was a SWAT call to serve this search warrant. Chelan County Regional SWAT Team and Douglas County Special Response Team were called out.

"Working through the process over several hours, a fire eventually broke out in the house. During the service of the search warrant, the fire was noticed in one bedroom," said Captain Reinfeld.

Firefighters immediately moved up and put water on the fire to protect the neighboring residences.

Lopez eventually came out and was taken into custody before 6 a.m. Wednesday. He was medically cleared and booked into Chelan County Regional Jail for threat to do harm – Domestic Violence, obstructing a law enforcement officer, and outstanding arrest warrants
