Sasha Sleiman was appointed to fill the open seat on the East Wenatchee city council Tuesday night on a 5-1 vote.

After the vote, mayor Jerrilea Crawford thanked the candidates who applied to fill the position.

"It does take an amount of courage and putting yourself out there to step forward and we are just really that you guys have shown that interest. We hope that you continue to stay active and involved. Sasha, we're looking forward to you serving. We will swear you in at the next city council meeting."

Sleiman will fill position No. 4.

There were three finalists, one of which withdrew their application prior to Tuesday.

The next city council meeting takes place March 3rd.
