Shop With A Cop Returns to the Wenatchee Valley Next Week

Local law enforcement agencies are bringing a little holiday joy to some Eastmont and Wenatchee students with the return of Shop With A Cop.

Wenatchee Corporal Seth Buhler said students will be escorted to Hooked on Toys in Wenatchee, paired with a member of law enforcement, and given a gift card to spend on presents.

"It's just a good opportunity for the kids to have a connection with local law enforcement. It's a lot of fun." Buhler explained, "I've done it for several years now. Any of the officers that come out and participate always end up having a great time. Just helping the kids shop around, pick items for family, and then making sure they get something for themselves as well."

Eighty children will be selected from their school districts for the event.

Tuesday, December 10th, students from the Wenatchee School District will get to have their fun. Eastmont students will get their turn the following Thursday.

"The majority of the kids are generous." Buhler added, "They always want to get something for maybe their mom or their dad and maybe a sister or brother. So usually they try and get something for everybody in the house. But when I do this with a child I always make sure they save enough to get themselves something as well."

Community support for the event came from Hooked on Toys, Premiere Properties and the North Central Washington Community Foundation for Youth Fund.
