The Spokane Tribe of Indians will soon receive compensation after their ancestral land was flooded by the Grand Coulee Dam many, many years ago. Our news partner, iFiberone, reports that last week the U.S. house approved and sent President Trump a bill that will establish yearly payments to the tribe. The payment plan has the Spokane Tribe receiving $6 million per year for a decade followed by $8 million each year after the ten year mark. The funding comes from the revenues of the Bonneville Power Administration. Bonneville Power Administration sells electricity generated by the Grand Coulee, along with other federal dams in the Northwest. The Grand Coulee Dam is situated in both Grant and Okanogan counties.
