A 67-year-old Okanogan man was severely injured while riding his motorcycle just west of Leahy Junction on SR17 Friday morning a little after 11:00 am.

Trooper John Bryant said James Harrison was approaching the junction with SR 174 when he lost control and laid his Kawasaki VN2000 down, sliding about 20 feet off of the road.

"Troopers and aid responded to the scene. The injuries to Mr. Harrison were pretty severe but not life-threatening." explained Bryant, "Rib facture, upper back fractures and a head injury. Not life threatening, but it necessitated for him to be air-lifted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane."

No ticket has been issued and the cause is still under investigation.
