The Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest is still contending with the late spring snow from April, with the U.S. Forest Service advising hikers to check local weather forecasts and credible websites before heading out.

Wilderness rangers have reported seeing hikers battling the elements unprepared.

Certain trails and roads may be closed due to these unforeseen weather patterns, including fallen trees and debris slides.
