It's Election Day, and Washington has already received over 3 and a half million ballots, or nearly 73% of all registered voters.

According to the Secretary of State's Office Monday night, Chelan leads all local counties in turnout thus far with 76%. Douglas County has returned 71% of all of its ballots, and Okanogan 72%.

Grant County has the second-worst return in the state at 62%, ahead of only Yakima County. The best performing county in the state is Columbia, with 83% returned.

Statewide turnout is 21% better at this point in the election than in 2016.

Ultimately, participation in the 2016 election was 79.4%. The state’s record for turnout in a general election is 84.6%, set in 2008.
