The Upper Valley Parks and Recreation Services is currently working on improvements and grant funding to potentially expand the city pool's operation season. This project was prompted by a community request to find a way to cover the pool for year round use.

"We're trying to think creatively for how to target money at the federal and state level with the ideal goal to create a retractable roof," said Kiah Patzkowsky, PRSA coordinator. "In the summer months when it's gorgeous outside, you can enjoy the wonderful weather we have in North Central Washington and in the winter when it's cold, we can close it and keep things warm and allow people to swim."

The PRSA is currently applying for federal grant funds as well as working with Congresswoman Kim Schrier's office for support.

"We're also working on some relationships with the state Department of Energy Services to target investing in the pool and closing the pool from a economic development, energy savings and community benefit approach," said Patzkowsky.

The pool is currently open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
