Wenatchee School District is preparing parents of preschoolers through second graders with a set of steps for a safe return to hybrid in person instruction on Monday.

"Students will be required to wear a mask at all times except while at recess and eating meals. So we want to make sure parents send their students to school with appropriate masks," said Diana Haglund, communications director.

The first step is a student health screener with an online form for parents to fill out daily to help the district contact trace. A paper 'fast pass' will also come along with the student to school to indicate the online screener has been completed. Children will be allowed to enter the school after a brief temperature scan.

"We will be providing bus transportation for students in the AM cohort group and the PM cohort group," said Haglund. "Social distancing strategies will be in place and students will be asked to wear a mask while on the bus."

Students will be loaded in from the back to the front with assigned seating for students. Parents are also welcome to drop their child off, if not comfortable with bus riding.

Free meals, breakfast and lunch, will be provided on site through the remainder of the school year.
