Walmart donated $1,000 to the Wenatchee Police Department this week as a way to help our area's homeless population.

According to the Department's Facebook page, Officers contact many people throughout patrol shifts who are homeless and in need of assistance.

Unfortunately, many of these people have alcohol and/or drug addiction issues and therefore do not qualify to stay at any of the homeless shelters.

An effort was undertaken to ask local businesses to donate sleeping bags, hand warmers, personal hygiene kits, or money to help those people with nowhere to stay.

Anyone interested in donating can contact Sergeant Tim Lykken at 509-888-4292.
