The Employment Security Department released its weekly unemployment data Thursday for the week of February 21st through the 27th.

Chelan County's first time unemployment claims fell by 18% as compared to the week previous, while Grant dropped by 11% and Okanogan County's fist time claims saw a 38% reduction. Douglas County's initial claims last week rose by 22%.

Statewide, initial unemployment claims were down 8% from the week before. Decreases in layoffs in the Accommodation & Food Services and Construction sectors led the overall drop in regular initial claims.
