The 6th annual Wellness House Gala raised a record amount for the organization that helps people battling cancer and their families.

Executive Director Julie Lindholm says when they announced that they had raised $90,000, there was a standing ovation and more than a few tears.

"Our goal was $60,000. We had a live tally board and the minute it reached past 60 and it just climbed so fast we couldn't believe it. We were all just absolutely speechless. The amount of generosity in that room was amazing."

The bulk of the money goes to things like gas cards so people can get to treatment, free wigs and free nutritional supplements.

Lindholm says they want to go even bigger next year with the event to the Convention Center.

"I know that they can hold up to 500 people and our goal is to have at least 300 in the room next year and double the $90,000 to $180,000. This community is full of people that support cancer patients and the services that we provide so we're pretty confident that next year we're going to blow our goal out of the water."

Lindholm says without the support of their sponsors they wouldn't be nearly as successful and that she's incredibly thankful.
