The North Central Washington area is under a Winter Storm Warning from 4 pm Sunday until 1 pm Monday. Heavy snowfall could bring a total of 4 to 6 inches with most of the snowfall occurring overnight Sunday and Monday morning.

"People should be preparing for difficult travel conditions for their morning commute, even just in the Wenatchee area," said Steven Van Horn, National Weather Service meteorologist.

According to Van Horn, snow is going to be heaviest heading up toward the Upper Valley into Leavenworth and Stevens Pass.

Areas in North Central Washington to the north and west, including the town of Plain, could see more than a foot of snow. Moses Lake could see 1-2 inches and is under a Winter Weather Advisory from 2 am Monday until 1 pm Tuesday, partly due to wind speeds.

Okanogan County as well as western Chelan County could see blowing and drifting snow from Sunday afternoon through Monday evening.

The weather service is attributing the weather pattern to a deep low pressure system in the Gulf of Alaska.
