The Wenatchee Valley Humane Society announced Monday that Executive Director Dawn Davies will retire in mid-June after ten years with the organization.

Davies said she's proud of the personal goals she set for herself and reached, such as raising $3 million for the new shelter building that was finished in 2015 or getting their veterinary clinic completed and staffed.

"We've been working on this clinic knowing that we've needed it for years. We've been able to reduce our cost in veterinary care at the shelter as well as to be able to provide even more and better care for the shelter animals." Davies stated, "So a lot of things that we couldn't afford do for them before that would save their lives now we can."

Davies had originally planned to retire in 2020, but with the onset of the pandemic she decided to remain at the Humane Society another year.

The board of directors have already completed their national search for a replacement. The organization will announce its next executive director in May.
