The Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center recently provided a very positive update on their 3rd quarter.

Executive Director Keni Sturgeon said most if not all of their programs last quarter were well received. Chiefly among those programs was My Sky, an exhibit brought in to help kids and families understand the solar system.

"Our attendance between October 4th, when (My Sky) opened, through the end of November was about 1,800 people." explained Sturgeon, "That's just the people coming in through our front doors; it doesn't count people in programs or any of the special events that we did. Last year our attendance was about 1,150, so it's a pretty significant step up in attendance thanks to My Sky."

Dio de los Muertos saw its attendance jump from 450 last year to nearly 800 this year, and attendance doubled for the second annual Haunted Museum.

The museum also held a Murder Mystery dinner that was so successful they added a second show, and both shows saw waiting lists. Two more murder mystery dinners are planned for next fall, and possibly one for this winter if space is available.

"I'd say the quarter overall for us was exceptionally busy and very successful. We've been really thrilled." added Sturgeon, "We've had a number of school tours come through related to the My Sky exhibit. So overall it gives us a lot of really great momentum heading into the next year and the next quarter."

Looking forward, the museum is working with Eastmont and Wenatchee School Districts to revamp their school field trip curriculum.

On top of the annual MLK Day Multicultural Festival and the upcoming Hartsfield Quilt exhibit, the museum will also hold four community listening sessions around the Wenatcee Valley in Janruary.
