A joint agreement between the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center, the City of Wenatchee and the City of East Wenatchee has been reached that will fund much of the museum for the next five years.

Executive Director Keni Sturgeon described the types of items the agreement will contribute to.

"It helps us maintain our education programs and expand them to be sure we're serving Wenatchee School District, Eastmont School District, citizens and community celebrations." Sturgeon said, "It also helps us with our collections, and our care of the collections from this community that have been entrusted to the museum for about 80 years now. And, of course, the exhibits!"

The funding became necessary five years ago after a change in how the museum was managed.

"We previously had a five year agreement with the two cities (after) the museum was not longer part of the City of Wenatchee as a department." added Sturgeon, "(The agreement five years ago) in no small part helped us move forward with what we need to accomplish for the two communities in our area."

Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center will receive over $421,488 dollars annually from the two communities. The City of Wenatchee will pay $300,000 a year, while East Wenatchee decided to pay $8.688 per capita, or $121,488 a year.
