WinCo Opens in Wenatchee

The new Wenatchee WinCo opened its doors Monday, with its parking lot noticeably busy throughout the day. WinCo is located in the remodeled Shopko building off of North Wenatchee Ave and Maple Street.

According to the company's website, the store started under the name Waremart in 1967, but changed to WinCo in 1999, which stands for "Winning Company."

The employee-owned grocer says it offers low prices by cutting overhead with customers bagging their own groceries among other cost cutting measures, including not accepting credit cards.
