29th Annual Salmon Fest Among Biggest Ever

The 29th annual Salmon Fest and River Ramble took place Saturday at the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery. Fesitval Director Corky Broadus says they want to share the story of the salmon with people of the Wenatchee Valley.

"It's a big community event. It's great for all the locals but it's all about connecting people of all ages with nature."

The event featured two days of school kids get exclusive access with more than 3,300 people showing up for the family day on Saturday.

Broadus says that makes it one of their biggest ever and that part of that success comes from the very successful partnership of the Fest and River Ramble together.

"And it will be for next year which is our 30th anniversary. We're expecting a bigger turnout and also more expansion on a lot of exhibitors and a lot of partners."

Broadus says there is a lot of passion for Salmon Fest from the staff and the volunteers and that it's contagious throughout the event. She also stressed that they couldn't do it without the roughly 300 high school volunteers who help the event run.
