2nd Accident on SR 28 in Two Days, Partially Due to Frosted Windows

A two car collision occurred on State Route 28, near milepost 4 on Thursday morning at around 7 a.m. The accident was in the same area as the fatality accident that occurred Wednesday morning.

According to Washington State Trooper John Bryant, part of the collision was a result of the side and rear windows not clear of frost and obstructing the driver's view.

"What happened, basically, a 17 year old driver attempted to cross the roadway and he was struck by an eastbound traveling vehicle," said Trooper Bryant. "Two issues with that were, the driver failed to realize he didn't have the right of way or have enough time to cross the roadway. The second one was most of his windows were frosted over."

Trooper Bryant noted not only is scraping a windshield something a person should do before driving, but is a required thing to do. The driver received a citation for Negligent Driving, second degree.

"You really have to pay attention this time of year. Take the time, to not just warm up your car but buy that ice scraper. You want to have as much vision as you can, especially in areas where you've got smaller roads, side roads, where you go from side roads to state routes where vehicles are traveling at higher rates of speed," said Trooper Bryant.

The driver and his passengers were transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries - one passenger in the back wasn't wearing a seatbelt.
