Agencies Involved in Bus Fatality Collision Held Meeting, Reviewed Course of Actions

After the recent collision between a Quincy school bus and a tour bus in Grant County, several agencies involved gathered last week to review the course of action post collision. The meeting included folks from Grant County Sheriff’s Office, Quincy Valley Medical Center, Grant County Fire District 3, Protection 1 Ambulance, Quincy School District and Washington State Patrol.

"We met to discuss what went well, what could be improved, what other planning needs to be done in order to respond to mass casualties such as that bus crash," said Kyle Foreman, public information officer.

This kind of meeting is typical after any major incident, such as the latest bus collision and the University of Washington band bus crash in 2018.

"The takeaways from this were learning what we could improve on, there was some patient handling things we think we could improve on," said Foreman. "Mostly on the administrative side, not on the patient care side. We thought the patient care went very, very well."

Foreman noted the coordination between the multiple agencies went seamlessly as well, but all of the groups evaluated and left the meeting with an idea on what can be improved on to incorporate those in future efforts.
