CDHD Virtual Meet & Greet With Interim Administrator & Incident Commander Provides Insight
The Chelan Douglas Health District invited the community to stream a virtual meet and greet with CDHD interim administrator, Nathan Weed, and incident commander, John Unfred, via Facebook live Thursday afternoon. The meet and greet allowed the pair to offer insight on what will be accomplished while serving the two county area and also field questions.
"By bringing in an incident management team, we bring that structured process and focus heavily on the logistics and planning for an incident," said Unfred.
According to Unfred, the team's tasks will include pulling in resources, organizing resources and making resources efficient. The Pierce County based team also tracks all expenses and personnel.
"Typically (the incident command team) is used for a short duration. We build a plan that can be carried out after we leave," said Unfred.
Weed will be in the interim administrator position until December while he and the health district work to secure a permanent individual to serve in the role.
"We're looking at all the different types of support we can find," said Weed. "We've begun initial conversations with other community partners where we're finding fascinating ways where we're able to do impressive work with what we have locally."
According to Weed, with disease prevention the idea of 'boxing in the virus' surfaces. One corner is testing, one corner is case follow ups, one corner is isolation and one is quarantine.
"We are also looking at a contract with our local healthcare systems to really increase their ability to do some of the case follow ups," said Weed.
Weed credits county commissioners and other local entities on creating a robust system for ensuring isolation and quarantine measures are effective.
