Chelan County Commissioners Expecting 2020 to Have Similar Challenges as 2019
Chelan County Commissioners says as they planned for 2020, they expect to be dealing with a lot of existing issues that cropped up last year.
District 3 Commissioner Doug England said, "We have a goal to get a final decision on short-term rentals. We are still in conflict with the Cannabis Board as far as how marijuana is grown and processed in our county. We still have not gotten a final conclusion on grizzly bears and and their introduction."
England says they are also working on Stehekin Road and what he calls unfunded mandates from the state.
"Requiring us to be the people that enforce their laws. We have no objection to that. It's our job, but we need them to fund that at a level that is appropriate for what we have to do."
Commissioner Kevin Overbay says they are also expecting to install three major upgrades, a new communication system and two scanners, at the County Jail in the first quarter of 2020.
