Chelan County commissioners armed themselves with community feedback as well as research to approach the Tuesday evening short term rental regulation work session.

According to Commissioner Bob Bugert, Tuesday evening's workshop will more than likely be followed by another before a public participation process with a final decision hopefully made by September.

"Most importantly, we're looking at how to develop a Sunset Clause for some short term rentals that we feel are in appropriate areas...how to have them phase out, or a particular time frame," said Bugert.

Community development staff is researching how sunset clauses are applied in other jurisdictions and the most successful approach.

"We're also looking at short term rentals by particular zoning districts," said Bugert.

Those that want to tune in to the work session Tuesday evening, from 6-8 p.m., can do so via Zoom. The work sessions are also recorded and can be provided to the public by contacting the county office.
