Chelan County Jail Inmate Dies in Cell

The North Central Washington Special Investigation Unit is looking into the death of an East Wenatchee man while incarcerated at the Chelan County Jail.

Wenatchee Captain Jason Reinfeld said 38-year-old Joseph A Verville was found dead in a single cell the morning of September 7th.

"As of this time it appears to be a medical event." explained Reinfeld, "An autopsy has been conducted, but we are awaiting toxicology. Toxicology can take 12 to 14 weeks or even longer at times."

Verville had been booked into the Chelan County Regional Justice Center two days before by Wenatchee police on an outstanding Department of Corrections warrant. The cell was equipped with video surveillance.
