Chelan County Prosecutor Search is Underway

Chelan County Prosecutor Doug Shae recently announced his retirement and the process to hire his successor is underway. Since it is a partisan office, the Republican Central Committee is responsible for vetting applicants to select three candidates to move on for the county commissioners' process.

"What we're looking at is May 18th to get those [candidates] from the central committee, because Doug's last day is going to be May 31st," said Commissioner Kevin Overbay. "So we will take that time frame between the 18th to the 31st. Then the board of Commissioners will take a vote."

Advertisements have been listed for attorneys in the area interested in potentially stepping up the position. The candidate will hold that position until the next election cycle.
