Chelan County Sheriff’s Office Prepares for Oktoberfest

The three weekend Oktoberfest celebration attracts a horde of visitors toward Leavenworth. With more visitors comes more preparation on behalf of local law enforcement agencies like Chelan County Sheriff's Office.

According to Chief Jason Reinfeld, Projekt Bayern and the city of Leavenworth provide funds for overtime shifts for both in and out of the venue for officer coverage.

"We beef up patrols quite a bit," said Chief Reinfeld. "We'll have deputies on foot inside the venue and we'll have deputies in the downtown area of Leavenworth on foot."

There will also be deputies circling town in vehicles to assist with the higher call volume.

Washington State Patrol also announced an emphasis on DUIs the weekends of Oktoberfest.
