The Chelan County Sheriff's office is aiming to bring on more deputies after an approved request from Chelan County for the additional hires. CCSO is preparing for a handful of retirements that will leave positions vacated and commissioners unanimously approved the sheriff's office to move forward.

"Because of the fact they are short staffed at this time, they do have additional funds within sheriff's office," said Commissioner Bob Bugert. "It was a very compelling need. My hope is they can make those hires by the last quarter of the year they'll have the training completed and be able to provide service to our community."

According to Bugert, the sheriff's office is anticipating many lateral transfers with former training already under their belt.
