Chelan County commissioners used a salary survey as a tool to evaluate and compare the county employees' payrolls to surrounding counties. At the latest commissioner meetings, some payroll changes were included on the agenda.

"What we are consistently finding is that on our lower end of our pay scale, we are under in comparison to other counties..the upper end of our pay scale, we're a little bit over. So we need to bring those a little more in line a little bit closer," said Commissioner Doug England.

According to England, when the economy improves, there's a concern of losing good employees to other entities and industries.

"One of the things we need to do is keep a good workforce," said England. "We have a good workforce right now so we want to make sure we are in line with other counties. There are some places that we've found we need to make adjustments," said England.

Over the next few weeks, the commissioners and staff will continue to analyze and take steps to balance out the pay scale for county employees.
