Chelan Fire & Rescue Manage to Control Wind Driven Fire Tuesday

Chelan Fire and Rescue crews responded to a report of a brush fire at about 5:40 Tuesday evening in the area of 752 Swanson Gulch Road. Upon arrival, crews discovered a quarter acre fire that had spread due to wind to large debris piles.

"We were able to really quickly get on top of it and get it surrounded to prevent the extent, had it under control within an hour and had it mopped up within two hours," said Chief Mark Donnell.

Crews were off the scene by 8 p.m. According to Chief Donnell, the homeowner indicated he had not been burning for over year so the cause is unknown and under investigation.

"We want to remind people that it's very dry out there and we're already in midst what we consider a very active fire season," said Chief Donnell.
