A wildfire grew to 40 or 50 acres south of Warden Tuesday afternoon.

Grant County Sheriff's Office PIO Kyle Foreman said that the wind-aided blaze on Road 11 Southeast and Road R Southeast never threatened any homes.

"It started out as a controlled burn that grew out of hand." Foreman explained, "Resources from (Grant County) Fire Districts 4 and 5 responded to try and contain the fire."

According to our news partner iFIBER ONE, Chief Deputy Darrik Gregg said irrigation district officials were burning ditch banks when the high winds caused the fire to get out of control. A water tender was on scene during the burn.
