Dog Rescued from Icy Roses Lake Friday Morning
Disaster was averted just north of Manson on Roses Lake Friday morning just before 9:30 am after a man and his dog fell through the thin ice.
According to a post on the Manson Volunteer Fire Department's Facebook page, a resident living near the lake heard calls for help and dialed 9-1-1.
Manson Firefighters, Manson EMS and Chelan County Sheriff's Deputies responded, finding a male in wet clothing on the shoreline who had managed to get out of the water.
The dog was struggling to stay above the water but was then saved by a Manson Firefighter rescue swimmer.
Both man and best friend were treated on scene for mild hypothermia and released.
The ice was found to be an inch to an inch and a half thick. It's recommended to not access ice covered lakes without knowing the ice conditions first. Also, wear a life jacked and always go with someone else.
