East Wenatchee Water District Looking to Expand
The East Wenatchee Water District is looking to expand its service area as it updates its Water System Plan.
The district is hoping to looking to expand service into a large area north of 10th Street NE and a smaller spot off of Battermann Road.
The East Wenatchee Water District, the City of Wenatchee and Chelan PUD make up the Regional Water District, and the proposal will require their cooperation.
"The boundary expansion can be accomplished by a water system plan update that the district is proposing." District Manager Vince Johnston said, "The proposal has to be agreed to by all three partnerships."
Johnston added that the 945 acre proposal would provide a better planning window in the future for the district and those that would move into the area.
"Everybody realizes that growth is coming to the valley, whether it's here or out north or over in Chelan county." Johnston explained, "I don't think anybody is opposed to the proposal. I think it's an easy way for all the partners to be consistent with each other and to agree with each other and to work together to provide a future for the valley."
The previous plan, developed in 2014, will expire this year.
