The Eastmont School Board recently passed a resolution to run an Educational Programs and Operations (EP&O) levy in the upcoming November 3rd election.

The board decided to run the renewal of their EP&O levy in November's election as opposed to its own special election to save about $60,000.

Superintendent Garn Christensen said the board has yet to determine how long the proposed levy would run for. The last three levies from the district have been all been four-year levies.

"Levy dollars are pretty much for enrichment." explained Christensen, "They pay for all the extracurriculars, whether it's art, drama, music, choir, electives and options throughout the schools. All of our athletics are levy funded dollars."

Christensen added that even though it's a renewal of a previous levy, he understands that times are tough for many families during the COVID-19 crisis.

"It's one of the best values that you can ever put your dollars into. To invest into your schools, into your community, and into your future youth. Trying to provide the best education possible," said Christensen.

The amount of the levy has not been decided by the board, although they have already been presented some numbers. The exact amount will be determined in their final resolution.
