Repairs continue in Grant County where a canal failure washed out major portions of a road and threatened power lines.

Photos from the county show seven different spots where French Hills Road is heavily damaged or completely washed away.

Grant County Public Works Department staff is working on a plan to replace those sections of the busy road north of Royal City, but there's no timetable for when it'll reopen.

The county PUD spent most of Tuesday replacing six power lines that were toppled after the canal broke open Friday

The PUD released a photo where a rush of water from the breach carved a ravine where the poles were formerly located.

The initial break Friday left more than 200 residences without power.

Grant County Commissioner declared a local state of emergency Friday to speed up repairs and the construction permit process.

The Quincy-Columbia Basin Irrigation District has been working to repair failures in the system that serves the Frenchman Hills Pumping Plant and provides water to sections of the Columbia Basin Project.
