Ephrata Reminds Residents of Firework Rules
With July 4th approaching in under a month, many folks may be tempted to get in the patriotic spirit by celebrating with fireworks, however the city of Ephrata, Ephrata Fire Department and the Ephrata Police Department are reminding folks of some rules.
Folks are encouraged to purchase 'Safe and Sane' non-aerial fireworks sold locally for celebrations.
"We'd like to remind the residents that live within the incorporated city limits of Ephrata that buying local fireworks from local firework stands ensure that you're buying fireworks that meet the local ordinance of no aerial fireworks in the city of Ephrata," said Fire Chief Jeremy Burns.
For some folks it may be tempting to purchase aerial fireworks, however aerial fireworks are not permitted in city limits.
"That means you can't have mortars that shoot up in the air. You can only have, as far as aerial fireworks go, fountains that shoot as high as 12 feet," said Chief Burns.
A press release from the city cautioned the police department will confiscate illegal fireworks.
