Fairly New Nonprofit Offers Free Mental Health Clinic to Upper Valley
Upper Valley Cares, a fairly new nonprofit organization, is a free mental health clinic that welcomes any and every Upper Valley community member regardless of income. There will be an informative and introductory public meeting on the evening of October 30 at 7 to share details on the program.
"We have so much information we need to cover, we encourage every Upper Valley community member to come, if at all possible. Upper Valley Cares will provide free mental health counseling to all members of the Upper Valley Community," said Becki Subido, president of board of directors. "That's inclusive of Blewett, Peshastin, Dryden, Leavenworth, Plain, Lake Wenatchee."
According to Subido, anyone that resides in the Upper Valley is invited to use the services. Regardless of whether one is a millionaire or with a dollar to their name, the services will be free for everyone.
"As far as financially, it's no questions asked. We are just happy to have people there and looking to care for their mental health, just as much as they would for a broken arm or the flu. We feel that mental health counseling is equally as important as physical health care," said Subido.
The types of counseling that will be provided will be dependent on the funding availability in order to bring aboard more providers to offer a wider range of services. UV Cares has already begun the grant application process. Funding, volunteer opportunities and service types provided will also be touched on during the October 30th meeting.
"We want to be at the point where we can offer counseling for every type of situation," said Subido. "With all nonprofits, we do need additional help from the community that the nonprofit serves."
The meeting will be at the Leavenworth Fire Station with light refreshments provided.
