The filing period for those looking to run in the August primaries closed Friday.

Some developments of note include:

  • All three open positions for the Wenatchee City Council will be two-person races. However, current council members Ruth Esparza and Jim Bailey will not run to defend their seats.
  • All open Wenatchee and Eastmont School Board positions will feature at least three candidates each.
  • Four members of the community will compete for Malaga Water District Commissioner, Position #5
  • In the most contested election in either Chelan or Douglas County, five people are running for Manson School Board Position #4
  • Coulee Dam Mayor Bob Poch will run uncontested, as will Douglas County Port Commissioner Alan Loebsack and Chelan County Port Commissioner Rory Turner

Primaries are August 3rd, while the General Election is November 2nd.

But what about positions that are still vacant after last Friday's registration deadline?

Douglas County Auditor Thad Duvall said those positions will open back up for a special three-day period starting Tuesday, May 25th and ending Thursday, May 27th.

  • Entiat City Council Position #1
  • All three of Fire District 10's open commissioner positions
  • Every open position in Cemetery Districts 1, 2, 3 and 5
  • Several water district positions

In Douglas County, positions that are still open are:
