Founders Day Returns with Entertainment, Vendors and the Parade
Cashmere residents and beyond braved the triple-digit temperatures Saturday for the return of the Founders Day parade.
Mayor Jim Fletcher says his town has always been very community oriented and this is a celebration.
"I think that this year, the importance of Founders Day is to say we're off, we're running, we're back. This is a new day and we're going forward."
The event had sidewalk sales, L-Bow the Clown along with other entertainment, art contests and much more.
Chamber manager Gina Imperato says they were able to do the ping pong ball drop this year with the heat, but they hope to bring it back next year.
"Each year we have expanded activities and partnerships. It's a great way to celebrate our locals, our merchants and our visitors."
Imperato says they had fewer floats and other participants in the parade, but they did come up with solutions to deal with the extreme heats to help out many of their vendors who are looking to get back out in front of customers again.
Founders Day dates back to 1979.
