The Knapps Hill Tunnel between Entiat and Chelan will close next Wednesday for inspection work.

According to WSDOT, the inspection is done every two years and allows the department to review the structural condition of the interior of the tunnel as well as the rock slope outside.

Crews will shut down US 97A between mileposts 223 and 230 from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm April 14th. Traffic will be detoured to Navarre Coulee Road, which will add about 20 minutes to the average trip. Travelers between Wenatchee and Chelan should consider US 2/97 on the east side of the Columbia River for a more direct trip during the scheduled closure.
