Local Volunteer Attorney Services Offer Free Weekly Walk In Clinics
Chelan Douglas County Volunteer Attorney Services opens its doors every Wednesday for low-income individuals to get free civil legal help. The Wednesday walk-in clinic services start at 2 and wrap up at 4 on a first come, first serve basis.
"There is an expectation and qualification of having a lower income, that's what the service is here," said Eloise Barshes, executive director. "They get about twenty minutes with an attorney."
It is requested that participants bring relevant documents like a lease, notice and papers served.
"It's kind of a first step to find out what direction do they go. We're often still going to refer them for additional help, to continue working with our organization," said Barshes. "But the bottom line is, sometimes people just don't know how or where to take that first step."
The office is located at 18 S. Mission Street, Suite 201 in Wenatchee.
