An Orondo man is dead after a two car collision on US 2 about 7 miles north of East Wenatchee Monday morning.

According to the Washington State Patrol, 39-year-old Carmelo Chavez Tolentino of Orondo was driving a 2001 Honda Accord westbound through snowy conditions near Turtle Rock Road when he lost control and spun out, ending in the oncoming lane.

The sedan was then struck by a 2009 Ford Escape driven by 68-year-old Thad Duvall of East Wenatchee. Duvall is the Douglas County Auditor.

Chavez Tolentino's passenger, 23-year-old Servando Martinez Tiburcio, was seriously injured. CPR was performed, but Martinez Tiburcio was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both Duvall and Chavez Tolentino were transported by ambulance to Central Washington Hospital. Their injuries are said to be 'non-serious.'

Chavez Tolentino was charged with speeding too fast for conditions and for not having a valid driver's license.
