Mission Ridge Extends Ski Season

A historic spring snowstorm has extended the skiing season at Mission Ridge until May 1st. A record four feet of fresh snow fell a week ago, and the ski hills will be open for weekend skiing.

The heavy snow created the perfect conditions for a longer ski season for the first time in 39 years. Mission Ridge Marketing Director Tony Hickok says the resort is fortunate for the additional snow, and the lengthened ski season. "The historic snowstorm that has allowed us to be open weekends through the end of the month, and May 1st is a Sunday, and that's always been on our radar." Mission Ridge Resort is a combination of state and Forest Service Land and operates under a special use permit that ends each year on April 30.

Hickok says Mission Ridge is fortunate for such a record spring snowfall, and a dedicated staff to keep it all going. "We have a great team-all of our staff, to just turn the switch back on, and get things prepared, we just cannot thank them enough for all the effort they put in after all that snow. We appreciate all their dedication to keep the good times rolling."

Mission Ridge will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 30, but has not decided which lifts it will operate. Link Transit will be operating its free Ski Link service to Mission Ridge on Sunday, May 1. Visitors are advised to check out conditions and operation at the Mission Ridge website before going to the mountain.
