Moe Canyon Fire Burning Near Ardenvoir
The Moe Canyon Fire has grown to roughly nine acres as it burns in the upper reaches of the canyon's drainage, about 1 1/2 miles southwest of the town of Ardenvoir.
Entiat District Ranger Kari Grover Wier said the blaze was sparked by a lightning strike Tuesday and this morning authorities became aware of it as the fire began to produce more smoke.
"No evacuations are needed at this time." stated Grover Weir, "The fire is burning in kind of mixed brush and scattered timber, but there are no homes threatened."
Crews are working to cut the fire off from any path it might take to nearby Ardenvoir. The blaze is considered a Type-4 incident, with 2 Forest Service crews, 2 DNR engines, 2 helicopters and 2 bulldozers working the fire.
