Saturday marks one month to the day since the Nason Fire at Lake Wenatchee started from a lightning strike.

The fire is burning 388 acres as of Saturday. It's been showing little movement, having grown by 74 acres over the last 7 days.

The fire has been smoldering and creeping. It occasionally releases clouds of smoke over the lake, especially in the afternoon when the fire and fuels are more exposed to heat from the sun..

The very steep, rocky terrain and location on a north facing slope along the Nason Ridge makes it extremely dangerous for firefighters to directly attack the fire on the ground. The National Forest Service is using planes and helicopters to keep the fire in check

The Nason Fire is currently being managed by a group of 12 people.

The Forest Service says its focusing most of its resources on larger fires that are threatening population centers. "Due to the fire’s remote location, and the current fire situation in the western United States, firefighting resources are being utilized elsewhere on fires threatening communities and infrastructure."
