No one's injured from a garage fire Tuesday morning in East Wenatchee.

Battalion Chief Cam Phillips with Douglas County Fire District 2 says firefighters noticed a large column of smoke as soon as they were dispatched, and arrived to find a renter at an adjacent home who was overcome with emotion.

"We believe she did a lot of art, and maybe had an art studio inside," said Phillips. "Essentially everything in there was lost."

Phillips said firefighters initially though the renter may have had smoke inhalation, but determined she was not injured. He said the garage had served as a home in the past, but had been unoccupied for some time.

The fire in the 400 block of 1st Street Southeast destroyed the one-and-a-half car garage. Several fire engine were dispatched to the scene.

The fire was quickly put out by crews who arrived just before 7:30 Tuesday morning, and its cause is under investigation.
