Residents Stepping Up In Risky Situations

The weekend saw citizens stepping into the role of hero over the weekend.

On Friday, two Leavenworth-area teenagers rescued a man from the river. Chelan County Fire District 3 says Bijou Zehm and Anna Martinez saw a man struggling in the river and were able to team up and bring him to shore.

On Friday night, two families, the Mayers and Billingsleys were among a group of residents that helped contain a fire off Road 24 NW near the Douglas County line until Grant County District 13 crews could arrive.

No size of the fire was provided, but about 16-thousand gallons of water was used to fight it.
