State Route 28 between Quincy and Rock Island is back open after a two car accident shut the road down for nearly two hours Monday morning.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Jeremy Webber said 32-year-old Matthew Brittingham of Rock Island was at the stop sign at Batterman Road and SR 28 just before 7:00 am when he turned his 2012 Volkswagen Jetta left onto the highway, failing to yield to an oncoming 2011 Honda Pilot.

"When the Honda Pilot struck the causing vehicle it hit the driver's side door." Webber stated, "The (causing) driver sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital."

Brittingham's injuries are said to be non-life-threatening. He was cited for failure to yield.

The Honda Pilot's driver and only passenger were not treated for any injuries.

The scene was cleared by 9:00 am.
