The annual closure on Burch Mountain Road in Wenatchee is now in place through the end of March.

The seasonal closure is necessary because of springtime freezing and thawing, which can lead to road damage from car and truck traffic.

The closure begins at the end of the paved roadway where a gate is located.

Foot traffic is still allowed on the roadway.

In addition, Chelan County has announced seasonal weight restrictions for the Cashmere District.

Anybody hauling freight in the area will need to fill out a Special Motor Vehicle Permit Application and return it to the county for authorization.

The applications are free and must be displayed in the lower right-hand corner of windshields. Applications are due by 10 a.m. the day before travel.
