A second person is now dead from a head-on crash in Okanogan County just north of Riverside.

Gabbriella Garcia Harrison of Loomis, the 28-year-old driver of a car traveling south on U.S. 97 that crossed the center line and hit an oncoming pickup truck Friday evening, is now dead from her injuries.

The State Patrol announced Harrison's death late Monday night after her 24 year old passenger, Lorena Martinez Gonzales of Tonasket, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Washington State Patrol Public Information Officer Jeremy Weber says several factors contributed to the crash.

"We do know from witnesses it was raining and the roadway was wet," said Weber. "We also know at the scene that there was some defective equipment with tires. They just did not have enough traction, and one of the tires was overinflated."

The driver of the pickup truck was 37-year-old Joshua Brown of Loomis, who was also hospitalized. His updated condition is not known.

Weber says speed may also have played a role in the crash.  "We can't say for sure speed was a factor," Weber said. "But as a trooper within the area, speed is a factor in a lot of things."

Garcia Harrison was driving a 2014 Chevy Camaro at the time of the crash while Brown was behind the wheel of a 2015 GMC Sierra.

Troopers say they incorrectly reported Garcia Harrison's age to be 38-years-old initially.

The crash led to U.S. 97 being shut down for three-hours and forty-five minutes Friday evening.
